-Launch the d3d9 version (PC)
Locate the game in your Steam library, right click it, select Properties, Set launch options, add this line: -force-d3d9
-Re-install Redistributables (PC)
Download the redist file from the link below and install \ repair:

-Re-install DirectX (PC)
In the following location:
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
Run: DXSetup.exe
Reboot and try to run the game again.
-Disable Steam Overlay
Click on Steam and click on the "Settings" button. Click on the "In-Game Settings" tab.
Uncheck the box next to "Enable Steam Community In-Game" and click OK.
Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab.
