DesktopGPT Privacy and Tracking
DesktopGPT uses the OpenAI API for submitting your prompt to various large language models like GPT-3.5 Turbo, GPT-4, and GPT-4 Turbo. These submissions or queries to OpenAI incur a cost that is tracked by the usage of tokens.
When you submit a prompt or query to any of the various models using DesktopGPT, Stardock will track usage of the tokens that are linked to your account. The data that is submitted to OpenAI does pass through Stardock’s servers to track token usage, but the prompt and answer is encrypted.
Stardock does not log or retain information that is submitted to the OpenAI APIs other than token usage on its servers. Token values are tracked and subtracted from available tokens on each individual account when a prompt is submitted to a model.
DesktopGPT does store some data locally on the user’s device that can be deleted at any time by the user. To clear your own DesktopGPT history on your device, remove all contents from the following folder (pre 0.80 update):
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Stardock\DesktopGPT\UserData
As of the 0.80 update, this folder has been moved to the following file path:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Stardock\DesktopGPT\BrowserCache
For all other information related to usage and privacy, refer to the Stardock EULA.
