Hello everyone! For Welcome to this week's dev journal, I wanted to walk through where we're diving into the exciting process of creating a Custom Civilization in GalCiv IV.

Creating Crafting a custom civilization is an excellent a fantastic way to experiment with different explore diverse playstyles and unique Ability combinations. Whether it's a mashup of you're blending elements from your two favorite civscivilizations, bringing a faction from your favorite beloved sci-fi mediafaction to life, or inventing something wholly entirely original, Custom Civilizations has you coveredcustom civilizations offer endless possibilities.

To get the ball rolling, we hit started, select "New Game" from the main menu where we will find and choose "Custom Civilization" as an option in from the list of available civilizationsoptions. Clicking it will then bring us This will take you to the civilization creation screen, where the real fun begins.

Civilization creation The journey starts in the Biology tab, where you can infuse your custom civilization with personality and flair. Here we can write and adjust details important to the flavor of our custom Civilization such as its name, the portrait of its Leader, and , you can name your civilization, select a porTrait for its leader, and determine the Species of its Citizens. Each of these entries can be changed to your liking and new images can be added by dropping elements is customizable, and you can even add new images by placing them in the appropriate folder. To accelerate streamline this process, GalCiv IV has a special feature called AlienGPT which will automatically populate every entry features AlienGPT, a handy tool that automatically fills in entries based on a short brief description. Any text written or settings changed generated by AlienGPT can be tweaked with little efforteasily adjusted to suit your vision.

On the The Biology tab Cultural Focus, Species, and Personality are the offers options with the most significant gameplay impact.:

With the Biology tab filled out, we can complete, it's time to move to the Abilities tab. Here we , where you have the most control over our your civilization's strengths and weaknesses.

Each Every civilization has a "budget" of three Trait Points to spend on Civilization allocate to civilization Traits. These Traits can have positive or negative effects, depending on where how you allocate those distribute the points. Choosing a positive Trait will Positive Traits cost Trait Points, while choosing a negative trait will provide you with more Traits provide additional points to spend.

Next up are Civilization Abilities, which are similar akin to Traits but with broader, more powerful effects. Unlike Traits, Civilizations civilizations are limited to two Abilitiesabilities. Choosing Selecting the right combination of Traits and Abilities abilities is critical crucial for creating crafting a civilization that matches aligns with your playstyle.

For combination ideas, you can look to existing civilizations. For example, inspiration, consider existing civilizations like the Corporate Sector. The Corporate Sector is all about Focused on economics and trade and thus has maxed out , they maximize the Rich Trait and has possess the Traders and Wealthy Abilities. This combination grants them , granting bonus trade routes, a whole bunch wealth of credits, as well as bonuses and boosts to gross income and ship range.

The final settings in the Abilities Tab revolve around your Civilizations Homeworldconcern your civilization's homeworld. When choosing selecting your Homeworld, it's important to remember the Citizen's Species homeworld, consider the Species of your Citizens, as different Species will prefer thrive on different planets. Aquatic or Mer Species, for example, will benefit from having an Oceanic Homeworld.

On the left side of the Fleets tab, we you can change customize the Stylestyle, Colorscolors, Texturestextures, and Materials materials of our your civilization's fleets. On the right side of the Fleets tab, we can change which Ship Template is assigned to each Ship Class. The same can be done for you can assign different ship templates to each ship class. The same customization applies to your civilization's Starbases. This will let you starbases, allowing you to mix and match Ship ship and Starbase Templates starbase templates to your heart's content.
