How to create a folder portal

There are several ways to create a Folder Portal:

  • Hold ALT while drag/dropping a folder on to your desktop

  • Draw a rectangle on your desktop. Choose “Create Folder Portal Here” from the menu that appears

  • Right click any folder and choose the option “Show this folder on the desktop”

How to remove a folder portal

Remove a Folder Portal like you would any other fence; put your mouse over the fence, and click the “x” that appears. The actual folder will not be deleted

How to quickly open the folder in a window

To quickly open the folder shown in a Folder Portal, hold CTRL while double clicking the fence’s titlebar, or double click empty space within the fence

Customizing your folder portals

How to change the view style of the folder portal

To change the style of a Folder Portal, click the menu icon that appears in the top left corner of the fence when the mouse is over it. From the “view” menu, you can choose from a variety of views including “Details” and “List”.

How to change the size of the icons in a folder portal

You can change the size of icons in a Folder Portal by selecting an option from its “View” right-click menu, or by clicking anywhere on it, and then holding CTRL while using your mouse’s scroll-wheel

How to change the order of the icons in a folder portal

Icons in a Folder Portal cannot be manually repositioned. To change the order of icons in a Folder Portal, right-click in an empty part of the fence, select Sport By, and choose an option

How to hide/show the header on a ‘details view’ folder portal

To hide the header in a details view, click the menu icon that appears in the top left corner of the fence with the mouse is over it, and choose “Hide details header” from the “View” menu
