What is Object Desktop
Object Desktop is a powerful suite of desktop enhancements that transforms your Windows experience. Included in the annual subscription are more than a dozen apps like Fences, StartX, Groupy, Multiplicity, and more – it’s the best value for accessing our most popular applications.
With an Object Desktop subscription, you can install our applications on up to five devices. You will also have access to any new products that are released while your subscription is active and you can also access early updates to existing products through our beta channels.
Included during the subscription is support for the suite of products and you can create a ticket here. We also recommend checking our community forums as well as there are many frequently asked questions answered by our community members too.
What is 'Object Desktop Classic'
Prior to May 2023, Object Desktop subscriptions had an annual renewal cycle but were not automatically charged - it was a manual process for the client to purchase more time for the product. If you see ‘Classic Subscription’ on your Object Desktop product in your account, it means your purchase of the product was made before that date. Other than the product being billed automatically henceforth via a ‘renew’ or ‘extend’, no other characteristics of the Classic product will change.
For the ‘Classic’ Object Desktop product, if the subscription lapses, the included software will continue to function at the versions that were available when the subscription lapsed.
Object Desktop FAQ
If I am within a current Object Desktop Classic term with manual annual payments, will my current subscription be migrated to this?
No, you will not automatically be opted into the new automatically billed model. However, when you choose to ‘renew’ or ‘extend’ your Object Desktop Subscription, automatic billing will be the only option available.
If my Object Desktop subscription should lapse, will the products included in it continue to function?
For the ‘Classic’ Object Desktop product, if the subscription lapses, the included software will continue to function at the versions that were available when the subscription lapsed. Any NEW Object Desktop Subscription purchased after May 2023 will see the software cease to function if the subscription is allowed to lapse. ‘New’ in this example means it has never been on the account prior, that it is a brand NEW license, not a ‘Renewed’ Classic license.
What do ‘Renew’, ‘Extend’, and ‘Subscription’ mean on my account page for Object Desktop?
‘Renew’ will be shown on an Object Desktop Classic subscription if it is allowed to lapse.
‘Extend’ will show if an Object Desktop Classic subscription is still active and allows clients to ‘extend’ the time.
‘Subscription' is the option for managing an Object Desktop Subscription’s billing options.
As of June 2023, when either Renew or Extend is utilized, the billing will be changed from manual to automatic. After automatic payments are set up, those buttons will be replaced with a ‘Subscription’ one where clients can manage it.
If I were to purchase an OD subscription at the upgrade price of (say) $29.99, what would it cost me to renew my subscription after one year?
It renews at the price it was sold. Thus, if you renewed at $29.99, it would stay that way.
If my OD subscription has lapsed, and I renew it, will I be issued a new OD key?
No. Your initial OD key will again be active and what is used for activating the products in the OD suite.
