What if I recently purchased Fences 4 with a permanent license?

Anyone who purchased Fences 4 Permanant licenses on October 15th, 2023 or later will receive a complimentary upgrade. Please watch your email or check your Stardock account for details about the download arriving in the next few days.

Anyone with an active Fences subscription can start using Fences 5 with their Fences Annual Subscription key.

If I have a prior version of Fences with 5 activations/PCs (Multi-Device) will my Fences 5 purchase retain this number of activations?

No. The upgrade process on the Fences 5 store page, where you supply your email and it checks to see that you have a prior version of Fences, only applies to the discounts offered for Fences - it does not take into account how many activations you had on any prior version of Fence. The process of checking if you qualify for the upgrade only checks that you own a qualifying product.

If I want Fences 5 but I do not want the subscription version, what do I buy?

Is there an ‘Upgrade’ option for a permanent license?

At this time (5/23/2024), ‘Upgrade’ pricing is only available for subscription licenses and not for permanent licenses of Fences 5.

Why is there a Fences Subscription?

Fences is moving to a faster release cadence and a subscription provides flexible options to our customers who always want the latest version of the app; permanent options are still available.

If I ‘upgrade’ to Fences 5 and allow my Fences subscription to lapse, will that disable all versions of Fences that I own, Fences 5 and prior versions?

The only products that would cease to function are any that were purchased initially as a subscription product. For example, if you purchased:

Fences 3 (a long time ago)
Fences 4 Permanent License
Fences Subscription

Only the Fences subscription product would cease to function were the Fences subscription allowed to lapse.

I have a Fences subscription, how do I get Fences 5?

Download a trial from the Fences 5 page and use your Fences Annual Subscription key to activate the product.

Where can I find my Fences Annual Subscription Key?

Login to your Stardock account, click your profile icon in the top right, select downloads and on that page you can find your key. Alternatively, your Fences key was emailed to you when you first purchased the product.

If I purchase a Fences subscription, will that mean I get all future versions of Fences at no extra cost when they are available?

Yes, for as long as your Fences subscription is valid, you will receive all future major versions of Fences at no additional cost.

If I purchase a Permanent license, can I add more PCs to it?

For the non-business product, not at this time. If you needed more Permanent licenses, it would mean purchasing them individually or the 5-pack option (which is 1 key for 5 PCs).

If I purchase a Permanent license, will I still get updates?

With a permanent license, one will still receive in-version updates (5.1 → 5.2 → 5.3, etc) but will not receive majors (4 → 5 → 6, etc).

What type of payment model will Steam purchases be?

When Fences 5 is available on Steam, it will be a permanent license, only.
